Visual Arts Hub: incarcerated individuals derive advantages from engaging in art-related activities

Do you know that Singapore Prison Service provides opportunities for talented prisoners to develop their artistic abilities and contribute to the community in meaningful ways? In line with the Singapore Prison Service’s mission to rehabilitate offenders for a safer Singapore, the Visual Arts Hub (VAH) was set up in Changi Prison Complex, aimed at giving every inmate artist a blank canvas to re-paint his life, nurture his artistic potential, encourage creative insights and facilitate a positive change in mindset. Starting in 2022, a team of dedicated volunteers has partnered with the Singapore Prison Service to offer art courses that incorporate art therapy techniques to support the inmates. Read the article below to discover how incarcerated individuals derive advantages from engaging in art-related activities.

#MeetArts is honored to be a partner with VAH to market their artworks and collaborate with them in our Art in Action carnival.
