#MeetArts is a trustworthy and reliable platform for all our buyers and artists. If the work you bought is substantially different from the description, is inauthentic, does not arrive, or arrives damaged, we will work with you for the best possible resolution, which may include getting your money back. However, in some instances, the best resolution may only be a partial refund, restoration, or an exchange. #MeetArts’s buyer guarantee covers transactions up to S$10,000. For transactions over this amount, our team is still here to try our best to find the best resolution for you.
#MeetArts buyer protection applies when:
- The buyer does not receive the work
- A work received by the buyer does not match the listing (e.g., the seller sent the wrong item)
- A work arrives without a described feature (e.g., artist’s signature)
- A work arrives with details in the listing that are meaningfully incorrect (e.g., wrong edition or size)
- A work arrives damaged that was not described or photographed in the listing
- A work is declared lost or damaged in shipment by the shipping company
To be eligible for #MeetArts buyer protection, you must:
- Complete your entire transaction through one of #MeetArts’ secure checkout methods
- File a case to #MeetArts within our standard reporting window:
- Items not as described must be reported within 7 days of receipt
- Items not received must be reported within 14 days of the latest expected delivery date
- Items with authenticity concerns must be reported within 20 days of delivery
- Provide any requested photographic evidence of the issue (including the work and the original packaging). If there is any damage to the package, do not open it and email our team.
If you pay the seller directly (e.g. via Paynow, Paylah!, wire transfer, check, PayPal or other off-platform payment methods), #MeetArts’ Buyer Guarantee does not apply.
Our team will make a decision whether your item is significantly not as described. Do take note that a difference of description must meaningfully impact the value or nature of the item. All dimensions of the items are approximate.
Examples of what’s not covered:
- A work has slightly different coloring depending on the lighting
- Details that are artistic or incidental to the making of the work, but it may not be evident in the listing photos (e.g. specific small brushstrokes)
- Slight differences in dimensions of the work
- The shipping company delays the arrival of the work
- Unpaid customs and duties or other charges that are the responsibility of the buyer
- Any issues relating to sales where you paid the seller directly and not through any of #MeetArts’ secure checkout methods
- Issues with works not listed on your order confirmation
#MeetArts Extended Authenticity Protection
In the rare case that you discover a work you bought is inauthentic, #MeetArts offers 20 days after delivery to report the issue to us. Extended Authenticity Protection will cover:
- Fake/fraudulent works and unlicensed reproductions inaccurately listed as the “original” artist’s work
- Works listed by the “original” artist, with a creation date within the artist’s lifetime, but were actually produced posthumously by the artist’s estate
- Gross misrepresentations which have a significant impact on the value of the work – as defined by #MeetArts’ Conditions of Sale
Our Extended Authenticity Protection does not apply to other facts about the work (e.g. wrong edition size, signature information or/and artwork size). In certain cases, the origin of a work may be unclear or difficult to ascertain with certainty by the author, and sellers may thus list these items as “Attributed to” an artist (for example, “Attributed to Michelangelo”). These attributions warn the buyers that there is an uncertainty about the work’s author, and as such #MeetArts’ Extended Authenticity Protection does not cover them.
