This piece was created for the Revelatio Finalis event on Twitter and centers on Jakob as he grapples with the aftermath of failed experiments in his attempt to resurrect Rene. The artist portrays Jakob working from a memory that is already beginning to fade, forcing him to reconstruct the missing or imperfect parts with an idealized version of who Rene once was. Through this depiction, the artist explores Jakob’s deep internal conflict, questioning whether the person he’s trying to bring back is truly the same as the one he once knew.

Hello, I’m unower_s. Most of the art I make derivesfrom my passion for characters, whether they’re from an old classic novel or a video game I just can’t seem to put down. I grew up watching a lot of anime and tried emulating the style with everything I came across, which, embarrassingly, included the characters from school assigned readings. As time went on, I found that my scribbles helped me get more invested and look deeper into the characters, especially for classic literature. Some of them may have originally been exaggerated in their sources to further a plot, but I like to pick apart their words and actions to make them seem more human. When drawing, I find that to me, the easiest way to do this is with the subtleties in facial expressions. My hope is that people are able to witness the subtle hints and try to understand what a character is feeling or thinking in these snapshots of time in their worlds.
