My name is Halina Nguyen, I’m currently studying artat the University of Michigan. I love collecting stuffed animals and have terrible luck in gacha games. Growing up I started with traditional drawing before discovering digital art through anime and games. Some of my favorites include Girls’Band Cry, Witch Hat Atelier and Persona 5.Consuming all of that content made me realize how incredible art was: it could touch people’s hearts. It was then I decided that my purpose was to make art that tells stories. Whether that be through fanart or making assets for video games, I create to connect with people.My work consists of digital anime style character illustrations that focus on storytelling with dramatic lighting and bright colors. Through my work I want to explore characters’ stories that might not always be shown on screen, portraying the different sides of characters to make them come to life. Capturing moments in time of a character in beautiful scenery,like we viewers are just glimpsing a part of their journeys and lives. My current focus is on depicting the purity and love in sapphic relationships to increase representation and let voices that are often quiet be heard.
