This drawing features Furina from Genshin Impact, posed in the style of Napoleon from Paul Delaroche’s painting Napoleon I at Fontainebleau on March 31, 1814. The artist aimed to capture Furina’s exhaustion with the pressures of fame—portraying her to be tired of the constant attention, yet still compelled to sit for endless portraits. Through this historical reference, the artist conveys the burden of public image and performance.

Hello, I’m unower_s. Most of the art I make derivesfrom my passion for characters, whether they’re from an old classic novel or a video game I just can’t seem to put down. I grew up watching a lot of anime and tried emulating the style with everything I came across, which, embarrassingly, included the characters from school assigned readings. As time went on, I found that my scribbles helped me get more invested and look deeper into the characters, especially for classic literature. Some of them may have originally been exaggerated in their sources to further a plot, but I like to pick apart their words and actions to make them seem more human. When drawing, I find that to me, the easiest way to do this is with the subtleties in facial expressions. My hope is that people are able to witness the subtle hints and try to understand what a character is feeling or thinking in these snapshots of time in their worlds.
